Field Notes
Lane heat without false precision
Using lane-level views on shipping SLA boards when sample sizes are uneven across the week.
Lane heat views are useful when they admit uncertainty. A corridor with twelve shipments last week should not wear the same colour confidence as a corridor with four hundred.
Show volume beside colour
WillowPoint System boards place shipment counts next to reliability colour so planners do not overreact to thin samples. That habit alone cuts false fire drills.
Freeze geography
Rename lanes every month and your shipping SLA history becomes noise. Agree codes with planning and stick to them through peak.
Act on clusters
Three neighbouring lanes failing together usually point to a terminal, weather band, or trunk bank — not three separate carrier sins. Cluster notes belong on the dashboard margins.
